UPLIFT AND CHANGEMAKERS PROJECT
Uplifting the wellbeing and inclusion of international students in Melbourne.
(Supported by Study Melbourne)
What is the project about?
The uplift and changemakers project aims to build the capacity of international students by improving their connection to local capacity-building opportunities and improving their physical and mental well-being. The project consists of a series of workshops for international students. Each workshop will include the support of culturally trained mental health professionals who will empower international students by providing wellbeing support through community wellbeing discussions.

Our project is made possible by the Study Melbourne Inclusion Program 2024, find out more about the SMIP and Study Melbourne https://www.studymelbourne.vic.gov.au/inclusion-program
What is involved in the project?
The project is comprised of a co-design stage and a workshop implementation stage.

The co-design stage:
-
First we will recruit 8-10 international students across Melbourne who will support us in developing a series of workshops based on multiple wellbeing topics that will be presented to a wider audience of international students between January - June 2025.
-
The co-design group will receive training in public speaking, facilitation, mental health first aid, and project planning to better equip you in co-design and project planning.
-
The co-design phase will take place from end of July 2024 to September 2024. Following the co-design, project planning and workshops co-delivery will commence from start of 2025, concluding at the end of June 2025.

The workshop stage:
After recruiting and training our co-design group will support us in developing a range of workshops that increase the mental health literacy of international students in Melbourne. Each workshop will include the support of culturally trained mental health professionals who will empower international students by providing wellbeing support through community wellbeing discussions.
